Ann Ferguson was born on Apr. 28, 1806 in Muirkirk "and bapt in the church upon the 4th May following". She was the eldest child in a family of at least eleven children, some of whom obviously died before reaching adulthood. Anne married Robert McCandlish in Sorn, Ayrshire, Scotland on June 3,  1828. Ann was to die long before her brother Thomas, a successful mill owner in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Thomas made out his final will in 1869, and he left 500 pounds to "the children of his sister Anne Candlish". (Three of Anne's brothers lived in Kilmarnock, where they had a large textile factory, but her sisters remained in Catrine and did not marry).
Ann died on  3 Apr. 1854,  at "Williamwood",  St. Therese de Blainville, at the age of 47 years, and was buried on 5 Apr. 1854 in United Church Cemetery, St. Therese, Quebec, some 50 Km (30 miles) NW of Montreal in the Terrebonne district.
